Flexibility
It is likely that our friendly team will present multiple sun shade design options. Superior Shade Sails, can often quote at short notice should your needs be urgent. Superior Shade Sails turnaround time for job completion is approximately 10-30 days depending upon suppliers and the specifications of the job.
Post/bracket heights
Critical to design is Superior Shade Sails post/bracket heights. Points too high, and we let in too much sun & rain, points too low, can cause the sun shade to come in contact with objects. Heights, are also important considerations for driveways where you may need to consider moving cars, boats& caravans.
Aesthetics Vs Practicality Vs Cost
Where possible Superior Shade Sails like to eliminate the need for posts, by utilising fixed structures. Eliminating posts reduces cost. Square posts work out cheaper than round posts, however, both profiles look good. We often design your sun shade with high and low points, this will aesthetically enhance your sun shade and enable it to perform well in high winds and storms.
Maintenance & South East Queensland Storm Season
Superior Shade Sails are fitted off with turnbuckles, making our sun shades straight forward to uninstall. Installing our sun shades is slightly more involved. Maintaining your sun shade it is important that your sun shade remains under tension. To increase tension to your sun shade you can do this by winding up your turnbuckles. When tightening your sun shade the shade cloth will tend to flatten out. (Note: some competitors still tie off their sun shades with rope).
316 stainless steel rigging
Superior Shade Sails are fitted off with Marine Grade 316 stainless steel rigging / running gear. This includes 316: flexible perimeter wire, thimbles, swages, shackles and turnbuckles. This combined with lock stitching and seat belt webbing in the gussets gives our sails superior strength. (Note: some competitors still use rope instead of a 316 perimeter wire)
Triangles Vs 4 point sails vs multiple sails
Triangles can look good. However, they provide minimal shade coverage and have known to disappoint. Multiple sails can add colour variations, and generally good aesthetics. Multiple sails are not always the best practical solution, as they often provide less protection than one large sail.
Fixtures: marine grade 316 stainless steel vs galvanised steel
Our shade sails are commonly attached to buildings and Superior Shade Sails commonly use custom made hot dip galvanised and stainless steel fittings. We chemically anchor into masonry using not 1 but 4 chemical anchors per fitting. (Note: some competitors use only one masonry anchor). Both 316 stainless and galvanised fittings are incredibly strong and durable, and we have never seen a rusted galvanised fitting.
To stop the sun
beating down on the western side of this home we installed a 5 Point shade sail. Once again we used the Z-16 fabric in the popular colour of blue. The Z-16 shade cloth holds an unrivalled reputation for durability, UV-R protection and quality.
