Created to protect the deck from sun exposure and to stop the windows from heating up.

This Superior Shade Sail project was developed in collaboration with our client. Their original concept was a waterproof triangular sail. After discussing how the area would be used, they realised the design would not provide enough coverage.

The final shade sail design made use of the existing structure. One timber post was replaced with a powder-coated galvanised steel post. This improved both the strength and the coverage over the deck area.

The sail was positioned high above the deck to create a spacious and open feel. A lower front edge was added to improve the overall appearance and complement the outdoor space.

The completed shade sail not only protects the deck from direct sun exposure but also helps cool that side of the home. Previously, large sections of glass absorbed heat and increased indoor temperatures.
